Eventually the iPod became dated and I was no longer able to update the operating system. After that happened (I do not recall whether it was immediate or after some delay), I was no longer able to update the app. Thus, while the app still works, I am stuck with the information (such as updates to the nomenclature) and functionalities in place at the time I was locked out.
