My brother was snorkelling in Little Mushamush L, Lun Co. yesterday. A deep clear spring fed lake. He encountered groups of seemingly regurgitated pellets on the bottom. Here is his description:

Individual pellets were 1/2 to 3/4 inch in diameter and slightly longer, found in groups and usually a bunch of them in the same area. Looked just [like] scat but with organics stripped off - so a loosly bound together gray mass of what seemed to be small bones. When you picked it up underwater it was cohesive, but would readily come apart with minimal pressure. I snorkelled all around one island in north part of Mushamush, and saw them in gravel/rock in various places in water up to 8 ft deep. All within 50 feet of shore (after that depth drops off rapidly)."

I thought maybe Pike? Birds? He notes he has seen a large Brown Bullhead (fish) around this island before. The island is covered with tall pines growing right to the waters edge. Any ideas?
