I hooked a nice fish and when I got it on the bank it coughed up a mouse which was still alive and eventually ran off so it does happen out west as well. It was always hearsay to me until yesterday. I went to a small lake near home. It was nice for a paddle. I was hardly there when a Small Mouth Bass grabbed my fly. It was a 30 cm ( about ) jobbie and put up a good fight. When I got it in to unbutton it and let it go, I noticed something in its mouth. Perhaps my fly had come apart was the first thought so it opened its mouth for me - with a little coaxing - and there was a mouse's tail. The back end of the mouth was in the fish's mouth and the front end down its throat! I didn't try to id the mouse as to species. So the tales of mice and fish were not anglers tall stories after all! I am a believer!
