Thanks for all the advice. I will act on getting "chick grit" here is Lower=
 Sackville and post an update if I see some uptake (maybe entice the birds =
for closer photography- me hiding inside a warm house).


The deck observation is interesting- maybe that is why our Blue Jays are me=
ssing about in our eaves troughs so regularly, Starlings lately too.

I have noticed the Song Sparrows on my back deck almost daily.  There is no=
 food offered there (it is at the back of the yard).  Perhaps they are gett=
ing grit that falls from my roof shingles?
