On 27-May-16 10:11 PM, Jim Wolford asks:
>>
>> *MAY 27, 2016* - *choke cherry* is now in bloom, along with many
>> *apple orchards *in the Wolfville-to-Canning-etc. area, just in time
>> for the May 27-29 Annapolis Apple Blossom Festival in The Valley.
>> *Also in bloom* in Wolfville are large numbers of*lilac *bushes, and
>> *Victoria-famed pink “cherry” blossoms* on a tree next to Wolfville’s
>> town hall. Does anyone on this list know just what botanically are
>> those famous now-western “cherry” blossoms that are celebrated every
>> late winter in Victoria, B.C., and elsewhere??

As far as I know, most of the dense pink to red blossoms we're seeing
this week are crab apples.

Cheers,
Doug Linzey
