All,

This came into my inbox this morning. Please do not contact me about it,
the original poster's contact info is at the end.

---start of pasted text---

Good Morning: I just wrote an email to the folks at the museum seeking
leads on anyone particularly interested in noting the arrivals and
departures of these terns along the coast of NS (or NB, Nfld/Labrador). In
2008 was able to be on the Northumberland Strait from July 1 to
mid-September so I started noting precisely their numbers etc. as you well
know they are less prominent and keep their distance from the other gulls.

I have been in touch with a professor at Acadia who has given me the names
of ornithologists in Greenland and Maine but I am more interested in
amateurs who might know if there are any nesting areas along the NS coast
etc. there is a club in Alaska in Skagway that formed around a small set
if nesting arctic terns and are keeping watch over them. I suppose that it
may be the only nesting places are in our arctic and that the terns I spy
have flown down from the higher regions with their young for flight
practice and feeding missions along the Northumberland Strait.

Regardless, they are a bird that interests me and I think it would be
beneficial if I were in touch with others, even those less passionate than
I, to round out the information that the professionals have about flight
paths, feeding grounds and numbers. I am aware of such networks of
observers in North Carolina who count insects for the professionals!

Thanks for your time,

Corinne F. Murray
