   Hi Dusan
  </div>
  <div>
   Black Maple is reputed to be a sub species of sugar maple so not susprising they cross breed.
  </div>
  <div>
   London Plane Tree is being promoted as a replacement for Norway Maple. I don&#39;t know if
  </div>
  <div>
   there is any in NS yet. It resembles Sugar Maple to some extent.
  </div>
  <div>
   It is a 2 species cross which shows some characterists of hybrids. Its seed is only occasionally fertile
  </div>
  <div>
   so is much less invasive than Norway Maple.
  </div>
  <div>
   Crossing species of trees is an interesting study - however not a hobby thing like rhododendrons say
  </div>
  <div>
   because of the length of time to see the result! Much quicker to select seedlings.
  </div>
  <div>
   Enjoy the summer
  </div>
  <div>

   <br/>&#62; Oops! Wrong maple species. According to J. L. Farrar&#39;s &#34;Trees in Canada&#34;
   <br/>&#62; (1995), Sugar Maple hybridizes with Black Maple, which is NOT native to our
   <br/>&#62; province. No mention of possible hybridization with Norway Maple.

   <br/>&#62; You are correct; Sugar and Norway Maples aren&#39;t closely related and
   <br/>&#62; don&#39;t hybridize - Owen
