Cape Split observations from this morning.

On the way out, there were one or two small Claytonia flowers, showing. On
the way back from the Split, there were hundreds in full bloom. Would have
been a great opportunity for a timelapse photo.

No Trillium in full flower, but could see flower buds forming. Same goes
for Dicentra (Dutchman's Breeches) and Dentaria (toothwort).

I would estimate peak hiking for flowers is still a week away. The trail
was wet in spots, with a few scattered snow drifts, but not nearly half as
bad as I had expected.

A few scattered early warblers along the way.

3 Black and White warbler
2 yellow-rumped warbler

Lots of Greater Blacked Back gulls (~100) , Herring gulls (~50), and
Double-Crested Cormorants at the end of the split. Also present was a group
of Common Eiders.

3- Eastern Chipmunks
1 -Red Squirrel
1- Snowshoe Hare

3- Redbacked Salamanders (2 red, 1 slate-back colour phase).

Best,
IM
