* here in Eastern Ontario there was very little under-snow debarking
of woody plants this winter despite all-winter snow cover and big Vole
populations. This may have been because the ground remained unfrozen,
so the Voles may have been fully occupied with plants in the soil.
It's usually Manitoba Maples and Sumac that are debarked under the snow.
