We had a couple of hermit thrushes foraging around our yard and the adjoining woods here in Waverley this morning. I observed an interesting behaviour: while standing in a spot, they would "shiver" noticeably for a few seconds. This may have been some sort of display, but there was no other interaction between them and it was a pretty subtle movement, so I'm inclined to rule that out. I suspect that it was a foraging technique, creating a little disturbance in order to flush invertebrates which might be sheltering under leaves. Peter Payzant
