Nearly all of the robins we have seen looked fat and = very healthy, but we heard on Thursday that Michael Laceby of The = Blomidon Inn in Wolfville found two dead robins that morning (he said = that superficially they looked big and normal to him). I have been = especially worried about the early woodcocks, which have been so = incredibly abundantly reported by everyone this year of the very late = spring. Two days ago we heard by way of a Sierra Club message that Hope = Swinimer had quite a few woodcocks at Hope For Wildlife in Seaforth that = were in need of care. Very few of the reported sightings to us on = naturens have been of birds in distress, but both Andrew Hebda and Hope = Swinimer reported oodles of calls about distressed or dying birds of = various kinds, including especially robins. Maybe we can find out from = Helene Van Doninck in Truro about how she is faring in the wildlife = rehab=92 business, compared with Hope For Wildlife. >=20 > Cheers? fromj Jim in Wolfville. >=20 > Begin forwarded message: >=20 >> From: James Hirtle <jrhbirder@hotmail.com> >> Subject: [NatureNS] More woodcocks but not good news >> Date: April 10, 2015 at 6:33:07 PM ADT >> To: Naturens Naturens <naturens@chebucto.ns.ca> >> Reply-To: naturens@chebucto.ns.ca >>=20 >> I had a report of another American woodcock that some children had = shot with a pellet gun in Broad Cove.
