Wed Apr 8 / 15 At the mouth of the Canard River this afternoon there were 100-150 Canada Geese, 8 m Ring-necked Ducks and quite a few Black Ducks. A farmer's field south-east of Jawbone Corner, Canard, on Rte 358 (road to Canning) with many exposed mounds of earth and debris dumped there after surrounding farmland ditches were cleaned out last fall, was a hive of activity. The mounds, now bare, were eagerly being searched by a variety of birds, including 2m Am Wigeon, 3m N. Pintail, ~400 Canada Geese, numerous Black Ducks, a few Mallards and many crows. To add to the mix 40+ Horned Larks were busy combing some earth mounds close to the main road, and even a couple of grackles were seen. Cheers, Judy Tufts >>>>>>>>> Judy Tufts Wolfville NS <<<<<<<<<
