Hello All,
I agree with most comments with respect to 'worst winter in NS'. Someone
in Yarmouth might say "we had winter this year ?" whereas someone in
Kentville would be worn down by the relentless sequence of snow piled on
snow, high winds with cold for nearly 7 weeks and counting. I suspect many
animals and perhaps plants will take a hit this year. Some ants will
survive.

Weather statistics are almost meaningless, with respect to a given year
relative to average experience, unless restricted to a limited area and a
carefully defied set of limits. For example, a year of average precipitation
in Kings County tells nothing about growing conditions in that year because
two crucial growing months could have been without rain; not likely but not
impossible.
