Sent from my Windows PhoneFrom:Ian Manning Sent:=E2=80=8E2015-=E2=80=8E02-=E2=80=8E13 12:57 PM To:naturens@chebucto.ns.ca Subject:[NatureNS] 2014 Rarities Map Hey Everybody!=C2=A0 Thank-you so much for all your great input. A big thanks to everyone that g= ave permission to share photos. As I've noted in private emails, the natura= list/birding community is a very accommodating/happy-to-help bunch. So than= ks for that!=C2=A0 I have a rough copy of the map up and going. There will be a nicer-looking = map up and online in a few weeks, however I thought it would be cool to sha= re the working copy, and get some feedback on tweak the data.=C2=A0 The map is powered by a Google Spreadsheet, and updated through the ArcGIS = Online server. For anyone interested, I can grant you permission to edit th= e Google Spreadsheet, and you can add/alter records. The map itself can be accessed at :=20 http://arcg.is/1zcIOGK I think this is an interesting way to share rare-bird data. As we've seen f= rom the list-serve comments by Rick Whitman, and Keith Lowe there's no sure= -fire one-click way to tease out rarities (which is really odd considering = I've been contacted in the past to confirm records with photos [you'd think= there is a filter here that could be accessed]). I'm in the process now of creating a map for 2015. I'd like to have this ve= rsion populated by an online form, which in turn is fed by a Google Form. T= his way, people can enter their own candidate observations into the spreads= heet (without requiring permission). I'd really appreciate any feedback. I find the map loads best in Google Chr= ome Browser. Some of the photographs don't render well in Firefox. Thanks again for everyone's help.=20 Ian ------=_Part_2706925_1165805531.1423853126871 Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <html><body><div style=3D"color:#000; background-color:#fff; font-family:ve= rdana, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:13px"><div dir=3D"ltr" id=3D"yui_3_1= 6_0_1_1423852826509_2442"><span id=3D"yui_3_16_0_1_1423852826509_2443">I tr= ied the link and it's working great!
