Index of Subjects --001a1134cf28231127050dd3198c Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Hi, For the last few years we have had 2-3 Flickers visiting our feeders daily all winter. I can't remember Flickers over-wintering except very rarely 20 years ago. Perhaps it's because we now put out bird pies, which they seem to like. Here is a graph of Flicker numbers per party-hour on Xmas counts in NS for the last 20 years. https://www.dropbox.com/s/cl06gwtg6ib6z75/Screen%20Shot%202015-01-29%20at%207.36.55%20PM.jpg?dl=0 . The numbers seem to fluctuate greatly, with no obvious pattern that I can see, Richard Richard Stern Sternrichard@gmail.com Sent from my Android device On Jan 29, 2015 3:44 PM, "David & Alison Webster" <dwebster@glinx.com> wrote: > Hi Ron & All, Jan > 29, 2015 > It is difficult to imagine that an abundance of food in winter would > not eventually modify migration, provided history had not narrowed > variation excessively. > I have wondered for years why Flickers were not more abundant here. > It can't be a shortage of ants unless they avoid those species which are > abundant.
