Have there been sightings of Barn Owls in Nova Scotia in recent times?

Thank you,

The individual(s) moved in an arc of arounf 500 m when approached. Was never able to get a clear view of an individual, but usually seemed to stay in the canopy around the edge of our pastures.

It did not appear to be coming from the ground but in the trees. I googled owl sounds when I got home and we can both say with certainty that we heard a juvenile great horned owl shrieking.
