This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --------------020606050609060602030402 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-15; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit The vote on my finch ID question is overwhelmingly in favour of a purple finch - a species I am quite familiar with (or thought I was!). In this instance I had some doubts due to the actual colour (as opposed to my photos) having rather a more brick-red hue and the faintness of the side stripes on its belly. Through this exercise I have now also learned to look at the shape of the beak as an aid to differentiation. My thanks to all who responded.
