Hi, all- Linda and I were on Brier Island for the last three days, mainly just enjoying the scenery and the weather, but we also compiled a butterfly list while there. Here it is: Cabbage White - 10 Clouded Sulphur - 30, about half of the females greenish form Orange Sulphur - 2 American Copper - 3 (photographed) Monarch - 1 Aphrodite Fritillary - 2 (photographed, both real rags) Red Admiral - 1 Painted Lady - 11 (some very fresh, some old, faded and battered) Common Ringlet - 1 Common Wood-Nymph - 2 The place was alive with Northern Flickers, there were small numbers of raptors, and lots of Gannets heading south. Yesterday had some spectacular whale watching, with Hump-backs breaching, flipper-slapping, tail-lobbing and spy-hopping very, very close to one of the boats. Much of this took place quite close to shore and we got good views from the Seal Cove area. Peter Payzant
