In defense of the Russian "Killer" Beaver: This was an wild animal, picked-up and handled by folks that wanted a photo. Not surprisingly the beaver didn't approve and bit the guy in self defense. That the bite severed the femoral artery was bad luck for the fellow and unintentional by the beaver .....

The Herald article mentions that the incident took place "a kilometre from shore, in water two metres deep." So the beaver (?) would not have been cornered in any way, unlike the agressive beaver in Belarus. Also, in the article the victim is quoted as initially thinking that he was being attacked by a "sea otter." Sure, here, on the Right Coast?
