Over 60 years ago in NW Ontario My springer spaniel swam out to =
"retrieve" a beaver in a small pond. The dog circled the beaver about =
one revolution when the beaver grabbed him by the shoulder area and =
dragged him down. They were under water for about 10 or 20 seconds when =
the dog surfaced, yelping and swimming to shore. Pretty bad wound that =
looked like it might have been from more than one bight. Almost ruined a =
good duck retriever.=20

A beaver attacking and biting a snorkeller, in saltwater, and a =
considerable distance from the shore? Was the culprit really a beaver? =
Any thoughts?
