Beautiful pictures as you say. DW ----- Original Message -----=20 From: Randy Lauff=20 To: NatureNS=20 Sent: Wednesday, July 02, 2014 10:51 AM Subject: Re: [NatureNS] Beetles of ENA I just received my copy of this book. It's beautifully laid out with = great photography. There are introductory chapters on anatomy, capture = techniques (including ethics) and more. There is a pictorial key to = common beetle families. Pictorial keys are a lot more work to create, = but tonnes easier to use. From just flipping through, it looks like one = species per genus of beetles is illustrated...I have not gone through = the whole book though to see if that's consistent. But wait! I just = checked one of my favourite families, the Silphidae (Carrion Beetles) = and there are six Burying Beetles (genus Nicrophorus) illustrated; it = must be a favourite of the author as well! The only critique I have is that the References section is "Selected = References". I realize that a full References section for a book this = size would count in the many hundreds, likely over a thousand = references, but none-the-less, it would have been nice. _________________________________ RF Lauff Way in the boonies of Antigonish County, NS.
