I observed 58 Short-billed Dowitchers at Martinique Beach this morning. They
were distant, near the big house you can see across the back lake (name?) on
the left side of the road. Aside from distance the lighting was poor so I
didn't get any pictures worth posting but they were barely sufficient for
ID.

I also observed 8 (saw one heard the rest) Blackpoll Warblers on the 3rd
island past the beach. I checked in 8 but I'm sure there were more. It was
after 10 am by the time I got there and they were actively singing and were
fairly close to each other. Do you suppose they are breeding there?

I didn't see any Piping Plover. There has not been any reported there since
I photographed one on April 21st so it is not looking good for them there.
Personally I don't think NS is pulling its weight in trying to protect
Piping Plover nesting areas but correct me if I'm wrong. Has there been even
a single fine for dogs off leash in Piping Plover areas this year, last
year?
