--089e01183358f1011e04fc7fd701 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 hi folks, Of note this morning at Miner's Marsh, Kentville: 1 *Northern Mockingbird* 3 *Chimney Swifts* (sounded like they were giving courtship flight calls) 1 *Spotted Sandpiper* 2* Pied-billed Grebes* - with 4 young in tow. While the young were floating around, the two adults were busily bringing vegetation and mud to one location and packing it down with bills and feet. This is possibly a new nesting platform, as they can double brood 4 days to 4 weeks after the first brood hatches. But they can also build brooding and mating platforms so it would be worth keeping an eye on (Birds of North America online). At Miner's this location is within some sparse cattails, but easily visible when looking east from "the spit" as coined (?) by A. Hebda (2014). eBird: http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S18881829 cheers, James. -- James Churchill Kentville, Nova Scotia jameslchurchill@gmail.com (902) 681-2374 --089e01183358f1011e04fc7fd701 Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <div dir=3D"ltr">hi folks,=A0<div>Of note this morning at Miner's Marsh= , Kentville:=A0</div><div><br></div><div>1 <b>Northern Mockingbird</b></div= ><div>3 <b>Chimney Swifts</b> (sounded like they were giving courtship flig= ht calls)</div> <div>1 <b>Spotted Sandpiper</b></div><div>2<b> Pied-billed Grebes</b> - wit= h 4 young in tow.
