We had good weather=2C with fog at first=2C but by the afternoon= =2C things cleared off and the temperatures went up to plus 10. In all we = saw 43 pecies. Before the outing Alex d'Entremont had a pileated woodpecke= r=2C which I did not include on the list and we saw and others also saw a r= ed-tailed hawk on the trip home=2C which was not seen during the outing. H= ighlights of the trip were a ruffed grouse at Port Clyde=2C two northern ha= rriers=2C one at Port Clyde and the other at the Blanche Peninsula=2C and t= hree brant at the end of the Blanche Peninsula at Sylvia's Cove. Sizeable= numbers of birds were seen at most stops. At Port L'Tour we had 88 greate= r scaup and one lesser scaup. Bacarro produced a very co-operative snowy o= wn=2C a peregrine falcon=2C a great blue heron and large numbers of waterfo= wl. One unknown alcid was spotted=2C maybe a razorbill or murre. I did no= t include this in the count total. A male and female harlequin duck were b= y the Bacarro lighthouse and an astounding 493 black scoters. I probably m= issed some in this count as they were constantly diving. There were also a= t least 18 yellow-rumped warblers at Bacarro. =20 =20 The list included: =20 =20 1/ Brant 2/ Canada Goose 3/ American Black Duck 4/ Mallard 5/ Greater Scaup 6/ Lesser Scaup 7/ Common Eider 8/ Halequin Duck 9/ Surf Scoter 10/ White-winged Scoter 11/ Black Scoter 12/ Long-tailed Duck 13/ Bufflehead 14/ Common Goldeneye 15/ Common Merganser 16/ Red-breasted Merganser 17/ Ring-necked Pheasant 18/ Ruffed Grouse 19/ Common Loon 20/ Horned Grebe 21/ Red-necked Grebe 22/ Great Cormorant 23/ Great Blue Heron 24/ Bald Eagle 25/ Northern Harrier 26/ Peregrine Falcon (First year that I can remember that we missed getting a shorebird on this = outing) 27/ Herring Gull 28/ Great Black-backed Gull Ring-billed gull possible. I saw one=2C but no one else did and the bird g= ot away before I could draw attention to it=2C so not included. 29/ Black Guillemot 30/ Rock Pigeon 31/ Mourning Dove 32/ Snowy Owl 33/ Downy Woodpecker (Odd that no northern flickers were found or other woodpeckers) 34/ Blue Jay 35/ American Crow 36/ Common Raven 37/ Black-capped Chickadee Note: (Our car heard a boreal chickadee calling=2C but when we attempted t= o get it out all we came up with was black-capped chickadees.)
