Yesterday we had our first Grackle, so that makes it officially spring in spite of all the snow! Also we had a blackbird high up in the Ash Trees behind our house. We got some photos which show it's yellow eye, no wingbars, and blackbird beak, which we sent to Ian McLaren to see if he agrees that it is a Rusty. Poor quality photos though, as it was so far away. Today it was back in pretty well the same location, and we have some more photos, also not so good. It's song is similar to a Red-winged Blackbird, but not as clear. Hopefully it will stick around.
