Down here on the Wyman Road, one tree sparrow took advantage of the hanging
feeder (long with a few chickadees). Everyone else went for the ground.
One fox sparrow continues to show himself.

Of interest was a large flock of grackles who stopped for a brief blitz.

Also of interest was the number of tussles I saw between birds. I guess we
aren't much different. When resources are scare or we're under stress we'd
rather fight with each other than look for what we need!

About half an hour ago, a group of starlings tackling a lump of suet got
subtracted by one. An advanced juvenile accipiter which looks too big to
be a sharpie, and seems to have too big a head. Cannot see the width of the
tail bands, but the white tip doesn't look too broad. Does look rounded.
Lots of longitudinal reddish breast stripes and a pronounced supercilium.
The size and proportions suggest a Cooper's. I have some lousy shots, if
anyone wants to have a look.

Had an American Tree sparrow at my feeder this morning, braving the cold and
the blowing snow. This brings my yard list total to 60!

Cheers;

Suzanne
