--Apple-Mail-155--1073380546 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; delsp=yes; format=flowed "Spanworm" makes me think of caterpillars otherwise known as inchworms or measuring worms, but I think perhaps Paul is referring to fall webworms, which are caterpillars of Hyphantria cunea, tiger moths (family Arctiidae), that form colonies and secrete silk to form communal webs in the foliage of deciduous trees and shrubs. They have been quite abundant in our area for several years, and their webs are unsightly in late summer and through autumn and winter. Cheers from Jim in Wolfville.
