wasp-like, N --14dae93d8d58a5183504e329c111 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 I agree with David Webster, looks like a Pompilidae. I will not go further than that with the identification. I suspect there are about 50-60 species of spider wasps that live in Nova Scotia. An inventory of species in NS has never been done. They are reasonably common and found throughout the province. As David says the wing-flicking, combined with the long legs (they carry spiders underneath them, hence the long legs) indicate a spider wasp. One of my favourite sources, BugGuide, has this on the family. http://bugguide.net/node/view/3919#counts DBMcC David McCorquodale Georges River, NS On Mon, Aug 5, 2013 at 9:55 AM, David & Alison Webster <dwebster@glinx.com>wrote: > ** > Hi Nancy & All, Aug 4, 2013 > Do these insects flick their antennae and wings frequently ?
