While paddling a lake in Lunenburg County last Saturday, I came across a 3 by 15 meter patch of Golden-Crest with some 500-600 flowering heads (plus at least the same number of non-flowering plants). Until then, I had seen these plants mostly in groups of 10-15, and I know of two spots where there are some 50 plants each. Can anybody tell me if such dense patches are typical under the right conditions, maybe outside of Nova Scotia? I am aware that Golden-Crest is considered a rare species in Nova Scotia, and part of the Atlantic Coastal Plains flora, thus I suspect the patch I ran across is atypical in Nova Scotia. Burkhard
