Following on Elizabeth Doull's messsage, the first Canadian record of Crested Caracara is 
not recent at all: 18 July 1892 near Thunder Bay,  Ontario. Earl Godfrey in his Birds of 
Canada says that "it was probably an escapee from captivity" The pattern of vagrancy of 
Caracas in North America since then makes escape unlikely for at least some of them; in 
addition, they are not common in zoos and apparently are not favored by falconers.
