The dragonflies would have= been meadowhawks. Probably=2C white-faced=2C cherry-faced or ruby. All t= he best=2C =20 James =20 Date: Fri=2C 19 Oct 2012 12:39:34 -0700 From: paulrita2001@yahoo.com Subject: [NatureNS] A reed shaken in the wind To: naturens@chebucto.ns.ca Hi All This afternoon we went to a small lake for a paddle. The wind came up after a while so we returned to the truck. It was parked i= n an area with=20 some cattails growing around the edge. One of the leaves started to shake so violently I remarked to my friend about it. He replied that the wind had= caused it to vibrate at the frequency that it started to shake very fast. The expl= aination was a bit beyond me but that was ok as it was interesting. Many dragon flies around the shore of the lake. Not great large ones but a pretty reddish brown. almost firey brown. As soon as something bright showed up they landed on it - mostly in pairs. One flew over low and a sparrow jumped out of the grass and had it for lunc= h. Quite a few Caddis flies around yet as well as midges. Some of the midges w= ere=20 quite large for midges almost as big as small mayflies. A small lake but it has an interesting collection of insects. Also a flock of Ring necked ducks - all with jet black wing tips - LOL Have a nice fall Paul = --_e586884b-417f-45aa-ba95-405d15d9481d_ Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <html> <head> <style><!-- .hmmessage P { margin:0px=3B padding:0px } body.hmmessage { font-size: 10pt=3B font-family:Tahoma } --></style></head> <body class=3D'hmmessage'><div dir=3D'ltr'> <FONT size=3D3>Hi Paul:</FONT><BR> <FONT size=3D3></FONT> =3B<BR> <FONT size=3D3>It sounds like a great day to be out and about. =3B The = dragonflies would have been meadowhawks. =3B Probably=2C white-faced=2C= cherry-faced or ruby. =3B All the best=2C</FONT><BR> <FONT size=3D3></FONT> =3B<BR> <FONT size=3D3>James<BR> <BR id=3DFontBreak></FONT><BR> =3B<BR> <DIV> <DIV id=3DSkyDrivePlaceholder></DIV> <HR id=3DstopSpelling> Date: Fri=2C 19 Oct 2012 12:39:34 -0700<BR>From: paulrita2001@yahoo.com<BR>= Subject: [NatureNS] A reed shaken in the wind<BR>To: naturens@chebucto.ns.c= a<BR><BR> <DIV style=3D"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #fff=3B FONT-FAMILY: times new roman=2C new= york=2C times=2C serif=3B COLOR: #000=3B FONT-SIZE: 12pt"> <DIV>Hi All</DIV> <DIV>This afternoon we went to a small lake for a paddle.</DIV> <DIV>The wind came up after a while so we returned to the truck.
