White-throated Sparrows were the most dominant species, totally 1,750 calls; the most calls for a single species in a week this year. There was still a strong movement of Yellow-rumped Warblers, Palm Warblers, and diminishing Common Yellowthroats. It is the first week that I heard American Robins migrating at night. Rare/unusual birds this week included: Brown Thrasher 1 (probable), Pine Warbler 2 (probable), Prairie Warbler 2 (probable), Field Sparrow 1 (possible), Fox Sparrow 7 (probable), White-crowned Sparrow 2 (probable), Indigo Bunting 1 (probable). The summary of all night flight calls recorded for the week beginning the evening of 5 October and ending the morning of 12 October is as follows: American Woodcock - 1 Boreal Chickadee - 2 Golden-crowned Kinglet - 29 Swainson's Thrush - 12 Hermit Thrush - 2 American Robin - 22 Brown Thrasher - 1 Northern Parula - 2 Magnolia Warbler - 3 Cape May Warbler - 1 Yellow-rumped Warbler - 285 Black-throated Green Warbler - 7 Pine Warbler - 2 Prairie Warbler -- 3 Palm Warbler - 1 Blackpoll Warbler - 11 American Redstart - 1 Other unidentified warblers of the genus Setophaga - 1 Black-and-White Warbler - 1 Common Yellowthroat - 55 Other unidentified warblers - 9 Chipping Sparrow - 79 Field Sparrow - 1 Vesper Sparrow - 2 Savannah Sparrow - 311 Nelson's Sparrow - 5 Fox Sparrow - 7 Song Sparrow - 101 White-throated Sparrow - 1,750 White-crowned Sparrow - 2 Dark-eyed Junco - 14 Other unidentified sparrows - 160 Indigo Bunting - 1 Other unidentified songbirds - 51 Other unidentified birds - 11 Total - 3,240 Updated charts can be viewed at: http://www.johnfkearney.com/Nocturnal_Migration.html ------=_NextPart_000_007B_01CDAA37.1EBC9110 Content-Type: text/html; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <html xmlns:v=3D"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" = xmlns:o=3D"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" = xmlns:w=3D"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:word" = xmlns:m=3D"http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/2004/12/omml" = xmlns=3D"http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40"><head><meta = http-equiv=3DContent-Type content=3D"text/html; = charset=3Dus-ascii"><meta name=3DGenerator content=3D"Microsoft Word 14 = (filtered medium)"><style><!-- /* Font Definitions */ @font-face {font-family:Calibri; panose-1:2 15 5 2 2 2 4 3 2 4;} @font-face {font-family:"Comic Sans MS"; panose-1:3 15 7 2 3 3 2 2 2 4;} /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {margin:0cm; margin-bottom:.0001pt; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Comic Sans MS"; mso-fareast-language:EN-US;} a:link, span.MsoHyperlink {mso-style-priority:99; color:blue; text-decoration:underline;} a:visited, span.MsoHyperlinkFollowed {mso-style-priority:99; color:purple; text-decoration:underline;} span.EmailStyle17 {mso-style-type:personal-compose; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; color:windowtext;} .MsoChpDefault {mso-style-type:export-only; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; mso-fareast-language:EN-US;} @page WordSection1 {size:612.0pt 792.0pt; margin:72.0pt 72.0pt 72.0pt 72.0pt;} div.WordSection1 {page:WordSection1;} --></style><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <o:shapedefaults v:ext=3D"edit" spidmax=3D"1026" /> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <o:shapelayout v:ext=3D"edit"> <o:idmap v:ext=3D"edit" data=3D"1" /> </o:shapelayout></xml><![endif]--></head><body lang=3DEN-CA link=3Dblue = vlink=3Dpurple><div class=3DWordSection1><p class=3DMsoNormal><span = style=3D'font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"'>This was = another big week for sparrow migration.
