Hi All=0AThis morning when the sun broke through the Canoe wanted me to go =
for a paddle.=0AIt was calling so we went to a lake where a brook flows in.=
At the junction=0Ais a nice swamp. The recent rains have brought the water=
up so makes paddling=A0=0Ain the swamp much easier. The lily pads are now =
just under water with only a few=A0=0Astill above water. So we went up the =
brook.=0AThe Red Maples have gotten a nice red with some still green. The s=
pars of hartmatack=A0=0Along dead have bleached a brillant white and it all=
makes a nice picture with the background=0Aof green pines and spruce. The =
asters and Golden Rod are about the only flowers still in bloom=0Abut they =
contrast well with their blues and yellows with the rest of the picture. Pi=
tcher Plants=0Aleaves are a deep red and the seed stacks have turned a nice=
yellow.=A0=0ALittle orange mushrooms with red stems are showy - the cap is=
 about as big as a dime.=0ANo I didn't try to eat them! - LOL=0AIt would be=
difficult to find a more beautiful garden anywhere. Only rarely do people =
see it.=0AAnd doesn't cost the tax payers a cent. And not a bureaucrat in s=
ight!=0AThere was 25 - 30 ducks there - they took of when I got close. Near=
all Mallards - not very beautiful=0Aas they were getting a new coat. Lots =
of feathers on the water. The only exception=0Awas a Male Black Duck. Brill=
ant red legs - looked like the traditional Northern Redleg,=0Aseemed early =
so perhaps he was of mixed breeds. A very large bird.=A0=0AReddish Brown dr=
agon flies were quite plentiful as well as a medium sized black fly about t=
he size=0Aof a house fly but they sat on the water. Always a few Caddis abo=
ut to. Light brown ones today.=0APainted turtles, 2 groups of 2 each were s=
itting on a sunken log. One was quite large and=0A2 were very small - the d=
iameter of an average orange perhaps.=0AA great paddle - don't forget to ta=
ke your canoe out when it calls.=0APaul
