Last night, around 4.45am, I heard a strange animal or bird call in my yard. It sounded like it was up in the oak trees and was a long "ba-at" repeated continually for maybe 30 or 40 seconds as it gradually faded into the distance. I've heard overflying herons croak at night, but this was quite different. It was a damp, foggy night, but wasn't raining at the time. Does anyone on the list have any suggestions as to the origin, other than that I was dreaming or my wife snoring? Ken MacAulay Port Mouton, NS
