Nocturnal migration over Antigonish County this week was down considerably
from last week. The first two nights of the week had some good movement, 300
night flight calls on August 24 and 230 on August 25. But the rest of the
week was very quiet with only 4 to 52 calls per night. The most common
warbler this week was Common Yellowthroat with 90 calls recorded. Veeries
and Swainson's Thrushes should be peaking soon but there hasn't been much of
a prelude. The only unusual or rare bird was a Dickcissel on 25 August. The
summary of night flight calls for the week beginning the evening of August
24 and ending the morning of August 31 is as follows:
