Hi Dave=0ALong finned squid are long popular as a food fish as are all=0Asp=
ecies of squid. The literature is quite extensive on the subject=C2=A0=0Aev=
en ways to prepare. It is actually quite tasty.=0AThe species is very cycli=
c in its appearance inshore Nova Scotia.=0AThe catch data from the USA supp=
ort the local view.=0AFor example 2002 they were more plentiful than this y=
ear.=0AThis from wharf information. The cyclic nature perhaps explains=0Ait=
s lack of popularity here in NS. However we were at a restaurant=0Athe othe=
r evening where it was on the menu - it was very tasty.=0AA Newfoundland wo=
man was telling me of the various ways to prepare=0Ait the other evening on=
the wharf. She could write a cookbook! Of course squid=0Ais popular in New=
foundland where the short finned species is quite regular.=0AFolks on the w=
harf included folks from Vietnam and Venezuela - they all=0Aknew how to cle=
an them so I presume were familiar with them.=0AHow eating more would affec=
t anything is a mystery to me.=0APerhaps the lad was joking - LOL=C2=A0=0AA=
nyway last evening the mackerel were in and wharf talk indicates they do=C2=
=A0=0Anot come in until the squid depart. Seemed the case last evening.=0AT=
ry some - you'll like them=0APaul=0A=0A=0A=0A______________________________=
