Hi Paul & All, Aug 29, 2012
The use of water from these impoundments for irrigation is an =
interesting idea. A short pump across to the Factorydale watershed would =
deliver water for both halves of the Valley. If this year is any =
indication then it will be needed long before arrangements are in place. =

But, apart from leakage or other waste, much irrigation water would =
take the scenic route to the Bay; via clouds.

A great waste is the water stored in the impoundments above
the Valley. It is used for electrical generation and dropped into
the Bay - perfectly good water for irrigation. And it would still get
  to the Bay.=20

  Dear All, Aug 29, 2012
An objection to wind power, that continues to surface, is the =
failure of potential wind generation to reliably match demand for =
electricity.

Are there compelling reasons, given suitable topography or =
infrastructure, why excess wind power could not be stored by pumping =
water to a higher reservoir or by generating hydrogen ?
