I suspect that O'Dor made = this point and it somehow got lost; otherwise why discuss the changes in = size distribution of fish ? My now ancient copy of Collins (1959) gives the range of Loligo = pealei as Nova Scotia to Florida (now as far north as Newfoundland) and = Illex illecebrosus as Greenland to Gulf of Mexico.=20 So there has been a potential for opportunity to eat squid here; = Illex if not Loligo until recently. Is Illex inferior as human food to = Loligo or do neither keep/freeze well ? Or is availability too erratic = for a market to be established ?
