Actually the Buckeye was first seen in the maritimes around 1954 near =
PArrsboro. After that the next record was from ST. ANdrew's NB in the =
80's. Hurricane Biob brought a couple of specimens to Grand MAnan in =
1990. The next record was from northern NB in 2011, then a hurricane =
brought several to Grand MAnan in the fall of that year. Three were =
photographed , all different individuals. One was photographed in spring =
of 2012 in Saint John probably part of the massive influx of southern =
species into the maritimes. The White Point record is the second for =
Nova Scotia. It is interesting because of the timing and condition of =
the specimen. It is possible that it is an individual that actually bred =
in Nova Scotia, progeny of an early migrant.
