Index of Subjects I had a close encounter with a Goshawk this evening. Heard many Bluejays shrieking outside my kitchen window as I was starting to prepare supper, so went out to investigate. The hawk was in an area of our garden where we have a lot of trees and shrubs, and only a small path going through. It had it's prey on the ground, and I approached to about 10 or 15 ft. from it, but couldn't tell what the prey was. The Gos looked around to find the best way to escape, and after one failed attempt to get the prey aloft, it picked up the bird and flew straight at me. I ducked, or I think it would have hit me. Afterwards I found feathers, which showed that it had caught a Rock Pigeon. Lois Codling L. Sackville
