Hi Dusan=0ASadly the health is not good - in company with most other river =
that flow into the Atlantic.=0AThe Lahave was never known as a great salmon=
river - the Gold and Medway easily outshone=0Ait. Old Bridgewater anglers =
tell me they would drive to the Medway rather than fish the Lahave.=0AThe d=
ams on the river - someone told me 42 at one time - resulted in near extinc=
t of the Lahave strain=0Aso now the fish are as a result of mixing of a num=
ber of river strains.=0AThe introduction of Chain Pickerel into Lake Paul a=
nd their spread down the river will very=0Alikely mean the extinction of th=
e stock now in the river. No need to worry about fish farms!=0AA lot of peo=
ple carry on as if CP didn't exist in the river and nothing much is done ab=
out=0Athe problem.Except curse and swear at them and those who introduced t=
hem. - LOL=0AThere may be an opportunity to raise smolts in pen and release=
them into=0Athe river when they are ready to go to sea. The idea is gainin=
g some traction=0Abut still has a long way to go. I probably wouldn't see i=
t but=0AI didn't think I would see a bridge to PEI!=0AHave a nice spring=0A=

lls=0A =0A=A0 The Morgan Falls fish ladder --and the one at nearby Indian =
Falls on the North Branch LaHave River-- is somewhat unique in that it enab=
les Atlantic salmon and other anadromous fish species to travel past a natu=
ral obstruction in the river, a smaller version of Niagara Falls. Therefore=
these species can occupy many km of river habitat upstream of the obstruct=
ion, which had been inaccessible to them before the fish ladder was constru=
cted. Does anyone know how healthy the local salmon run in the LaHave is th=
ese days?=0A=A0 Dusan Soudek
