On several occasions I have taken photos of birds with what appeared to = be a partially engorged tick attached. This obviously would give them = the opportunity to move long distances. Kevin From: Marg Millard=20 Sent: Sunday, March 25, 2012 09:39 To: naturens@chebucto.ns.ca=20 Subject: Re: [NatureNS] Black-legged Ticks locales -- was Signs of = spring Good morning, Kevin, I 'm not sure what you mean. I know the differences = between the ticks. Deer ticks have been here a lot longer than some = will say. I know the local vet has more experience than I have had and = they are removing them 'all winter' from animals, this year . I just = pick them off and dispatch them as quickly and thoroughly as I can. I used to take Ticks to Milton DNR as requested in a CBC radio interview = to have them checked so we could have it noted they were here but was = told not to do that any more as they weren't interested.=20 I have developed a theory of sorts. I think ticks can 'migrate' for lack = of a better word, in large groups! On several occasions, in quite = different locals, I stepped onto pavement or bare road from a car and = have been covered with them in a minute or two......shudder. I'm talking = well over a hundred or more ticks. Great morning! ------=_NextPart_000_003D_01CD0A70.40D813D0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="Windows-1252" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <HTML><HEAD> <META content=3D"text/html; charset=3Dwindows-1252" = http-equiv=3DContent-Type> <META name=3DGENERATOR content=3D"MSHTML 8.00.6001.19190"> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY dir=3Dltr bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV dir=3Dltr> <DIV style=3D"FONT-FAMILY: 'Calibri'; COLOR: #000000; FONT-SIZE: 12pt"> <DIV>Sorry Marg, your original post didn=92t state which species, I know = you have=20 hordes of Dog Ticks in that area but wasn=92t aware that = Deer/Blacklegged Ticks=20 had become established there.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>On several occasions I have taken photos of birds with what = appeared to be=20 a partially engorged tick attached.
