After shoveling the driveway and not having school today, I walked out
to the sewer ponds here in Port Williams, Kings County. The redhead
drake and lesser scaup drake were both on the north pond with 55
mallards. There were no goldeneyes or female aythya today.

Richard Stern and Andy Dean have both shown me convincing photos of a
female ringneck duck that they each have seen on the pond. I don't
think I have seen that individual, but do believe that a scaup female
is also visiting. Today with both male aythya evident and neither
female, might lead one to believe that both females could be in the
area and visit intermittently. Could there be a pair of scaup and a
mixed pair of scaup/ringneck? The redhead has disappeared for a day or
two at a time, Sunday there were no ducks of any kind in the ponds
when I visited. It is interesting, and a bit of a detective challenge.
