Hi All, I just returned from the sewer ponds in Port Williams. As I was walking out to the ponds Stan Hancock, the utilities supervisor was on his way out to check all of the meters, so I quickly peeked over the edge and did see the goldeneyes before they flushed. There were eight, five drakes and 3 hens (one hen with yellow on the bill). There were 65 mallards, I did notice two ducks that seemed to swim more alertly and off to the edge, they were in fact scaup. Both seem to me to have the head shape of lesser scaup, with a bump at the top. As I was scanning the mallards there was one that didn't seem at first to be "right", no neck ring and the wrong bill colour. It was also associating more with the scaup, and the red head, grey back, black rump and blue bill with black tip and size smaller than mallard and larger than the scaup all fit with the identification with red head duck. To my knowledge this is the first redhead at these ponds. George Forsyth
