Mahone Bay/Clearland & Area, Lunenburg, CA-NS Dec 26, 2011 10:20 AM - 12:25 PM Protocol: Traveling 12.9 kilometer(s) 24 species Mallard 8 Long-tailed Duck 28 Bufflehead 6 Common Goldeneye 27 Hooded Merganser 4 Common Merganser 31 Common Loon 1 Herring Gull 71 Great Black-backed Gull 1 Black Guillemot 2 Rock Pigeon 17 Mourning Dove 222 (scarce in three counties that I birded in regards to numbers this winter - These birds were all concentrated in around Mahone Bay for whatever reason in large groups) Hairy Woodpecker 2 Blue Jay 17 American Crow 12 Black-capped Chickadee 7 American Robin 85 European Starling 27 Song Sparrow 1 Dark-eyed Junco 5 Northern Cardinal 1 (Male who was calling on territory) Common Grackle 1 (In the usual location where I find one every winter) American Goldfinch 33 Evening Grosbeak 12 (hard to come by this winter here) Oakland/Indian Point, Lunenburg, CA-NS Dec 26, 2011 8:30 AM - 10:20 AM Protocol: Traveling 15.0 kilometer(s) 28 species American Black Duck 1 Mallard 114 Long-tailed Duck 1 Bufflehead 23 Common Goldeneye 36 Hooded Merganser 11 Common Merganser 12 Red-breasted Merganser 5 Ring-necked Pheasant 2 (A hard bird to come by this winter in Lunenburg Co.)
