"Bradley Hand ITC";color:bla --000325556ace55ec2704b0dd6af1 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Hi, Jim, What you say is accurate, although the crow roost in Kentville used to move around a bit - I remember huge numbers in the trees around our old house in the west end of the town, and they moved one night when I hooked up a recording of a Goshawk and blasted it at them through a loudspeaker. Last Fall and this, I have noted huge numbers in and around the fields nest to the 101 close to Berwick, and I know they have been a problem in the town there as well, although I think they're more dispersed around that area than they used to be in Kentville. When they were a problem in Kentville, I used to do the east end of the town on the Christmas Count, and for a few years would stand on the Cornwallis Connector at about 5pm and count approx. 20,000. Then they just stopped coming. Re: wailers, local fruit and grape farmers use them in the Kentville and Canning areas in Summer to try and discourage birds of all kinds. So it's not uncommon to go for a summer stroll around here and hear a non-stop concert of Barred owls, Red-tailed hawks, Peregrines etc. in the orchards.
