I'm almost as pleased as if I'd seen a dark-phase Gyrfalcon, which I didn't. At the very tip of East Point, aka The Guzzle, N. Grand Pre, immediately S of the dense brushy area but out in the open grass, this morning I found & photographed an "Ipswich Sparrow" i.e. a Sable Island Savannah Sparrow. I've never seen one before. It was kindly confirmed by both Richard S & Ian M. Ian wrote "An undoubted Ipswich Sparrow, and probably an adult male judging from its pallid plumage - first fall birds and most fall females are a bit browner. It's an especially good find over on your side - most move down the Atlantic Coast in migration." I have two decent photos: http://rickwhitman.smugmug.com/Nature/Birds-October-December-2011/19345301_Vgt77R#1552647505_bjQLTxz Rick Whitman
