Hi all:
=20
The day before yesterday=2C Kevin Lantz found five blue grosbeaks at Garden=
 Lots. I was there today and had one. Twenty pine siskins were also prese=
nt. This location is on the shoreline. When you get to the Heckmans Islan=
d road=2C turn to the right to the cemetary there. Take the right hand roa=
d to the shoreline. If you walk out the road to the right there are two po=
nds and a beach. On the beach side there is a spruce tree and the bird was=
 going to and from that tree. It also had been in the shrubary nearby. I =
also saw a crow chasing what I believe to have been a small owl. =20
=20
At the entrance to the Battery Point road where you turn down to National S=
ea=2C a yellow-billed cuckoo was being pursued by a sharp-shinned hawk.  Th=
e cuckoo went down into the shrubbary and the hawk stayed up top before mak=
ing another swoop. The sounds afterwards did not sound good for the cuckoo=
. =20

On the Back Harbour Trail and otherwise there were a lot of yellow-rumped w=
arblers about. There were also two palm warblers and a red-eyed vireo. =20

At Hirtle's Beach this morning David Walmark had two tree swallows. Alan M=
cTavish had some at Crescent Beach last Thursday on Oct. 6. =20
