* no, they lay the eggs under cover, and earlier in the season. I  
suspect that Goldfinches, with their tolerance for fuzzy food, may  
actually eat the seeds, and I'll be looking out for that - or there  
may be Insects in the seedheads in particular geographic areas which  
would attract them.
