Index of Subjects Both pink and white lady's slippers are at their peak in Shubie. It seems there are even more in bloom than usual--hundreds of thouseands I think! Also, the other usual culprits for that terrain and season--star flower, sarsaparilla, bunchberry, wild lily-of-the-valley, clintonia, etc. Shubie is so lovely in June, if you can somehow block out the awful traffic noise! I must go over there with my tree book, as there is a puzzling small tree in bloom at this time. The leaves are maple-like, and the flowers are yellow, hanging down in long racemes. I'm always so excited to see the wealth of lady's slippers that I don't look hard at the "maple". ID, anyone? Jane
